Meet Jean
Jean is a lifelong resident of St. Paul and a graduate of Central High School. She and her husband, John, live in the Como Park neighborhood and have two daughters; Meghan, a graduate of St. Paul Central, and Kelly, of Cretin-Derham Hall.
EXPERIENCED
In her 34 year career at 3M, Jean served in a variety of community affairs, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing positions. As a member of the 3M management team, she led significant change efforts, process improvements, and helped develop people and strong teams. As director of 3M Community Affairs, she consulted with the Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) superintendent and administration on the development and implementation of the 2006-2011 Strategic Plan for Continued Excellence.
INVOLVED
Jean has been involved as a volunteer, bringing the 3M Visiting Wizard program into elementary classrooms to make science come alive for students and discussing science careers with students in many junior and senior high schools.
She has also been a math and basic skills test tutor, a Junior Achievement teacher and she’s acted as a coach for teachers and principals in bringing quality management into their schools.
As Chair of the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee on Large Scale System Change and a member of the SPPS Shared Accountability and Transitions Initiative Advisory Teams, Jean shared her business management experience and skills to help our schools plan for change and develop comprehensive, strategic approaches to today’s challenges.
She has also served on the Advisory Committee to the University of MN Office of Service & Continuous Improvement and as a Board Member of the East Metro OIC, the Minnesota Council for Quality, and the Melpomene Institute.
